Privacy policy

This policy distinguishes between local processing in the InlayPDF app and the technical data required when this website is accessed.

Authoritative version: This English text is provided as a convenience translation. In the event of any discrepancy, only the German version is legally authoritative.

2. Principle: on-device processing in the app

InlayPDF is designed as a local app. InlayPDF does not transmit imported PDF pages, screenshots, recognised text or archive information to its own servers, cloud OCR services or advertising networks.

Text recognition is performed on the device using Apple Vision. PDF display and processing use Apple PDFKit and local app functions.

3. Data processed by the app

When you deliberately open a page from the Files app or the clipboard, InlayPDF processes that individual PDF page, including its existing text, images and annotations.

In its local archive, InlayPDF stores the unchanged imported PDF, subsequently assigned versions, preview images, checksums and the information you enter, such as the document name, page designation, notes and folder assignment.

This processing is necessary to provide the archive, OCR and export functions you request. It is initiated solely by your use of the app.

4. No accounts, analytics or advertising in the app

InlayPDF does not require a user account. The app uses no analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs and creates no user profiles.

5. Files app, clipboard and sharing

InlayPDF accesses only a file that you select using the system file picker or deliberately pass to the app. It does not request general access to your files.

When you copy a PDF, InlayPDF temporarily places the selected file on the system clipboard. Other apps may access clipboard contents in accordance with iOS rules.

When you share a PDF, only the app or person you select in the iOS share sheet receives the generated OCR PDF. InlayPDF does not select the recipient.

6. Device backups and iCloud

Local app data is stored in the protected iOS app container. Depending on your device and iCloud settings, Apple may include this data in a device or iCloud backup. Apple provides this backup functionality, which you control in the system settings.

7. Retention and deletion in the app

Archived pages and versions remain stored until you delete the respective archive page or remove the app together with its data. Deleting a folder does not delete the pages it contains; the pages are only removed from that folder.

Temporary files created for system sharing are deleted after the sharing process has completed.
