InlayPDF uses the text recognition and PDF technologies provided by iOS. Your document contents are not uploaded to an external server for OCR processing.

Screenshots embedded in a PDF page with PDF Expert or another PDF app initially contain no selectable text.
InlayPDF adds a carefully positioned OCR text layer to individual PDF pages. This allows text in the screenshot to be searched, selected and highlighted in compatible PDF apps.
All OCR processing takes place directly on your device—without transmitting document contents to an OCR server.
The original is preserved
Imported original pages are stored unchanged as a backup in the archive. OCR-processed pages are created as separate working copies.
Continue working in PDF apps
OCR-processed individual pages can be copied or sent back to PDF Expert or another PDF app using the iOS share sheet. The recognised text in the screenshot can then be searched, selected and highlighted.
